Your initial appointment usually will consist of a through examination and review of past dental treatment and your medical history. Please allow for an hour and a half for this visit.
When you come in, you will be welcomed by our administrative staff and all forms and copies of your insurance card, if this applies, will be taken. You will then meet Dr. Sweeney and his assistant as x-rays are taken and the exam is done. Once the exam and x-rays are complete, you will be seen by one of our hygienists for your cleaning and fluoride treatment, if applicable and desired.
If you are being seen for an emergency visit, you will be seen by Dr. Sweeney and your case will be evaluated. Most of the time, treatment can be started at this time. If you need to be referred to a specialist for any reason, we have several that we are confident will give you the same quality of care as we would.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:
- Any x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
- A list of any medications you are currently taking.
- Your dental insurance card, if applicable.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).
If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional x-rays are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
